The pill up there is real — drag it anywhere, then click it.

Lyrics in a pill.

Verse floats a slim glass pill above everything on your Mac and sings the current line of whatever's playing. Click it, and it unfurls into a karaoke card.

Free and open source. macOS 14 or later, any Mac.

Calm when idle, tiny when playing, beautiful when you want it.

A ball when idle

Music off, Verse rests as a tiny glass dot — near-zero CPU.

A pill when singing

The capsule hugs each line and stays on top of every app.

A card when you want more

One click unfurls three lines, a scrubber, and transport.

Pick how the line moves.

One theme drives both the pill and the card. All four are live, right here.

Type-on

Words rise in as they're sung.

Word spotlight

One bright word at a time.

Light wipe

Brightness sweeps with the vocal. The default.

hold the note till morning

Underline tracer

Still text, a gliding dash. The calmest.

Built to disappear into your desktop.

From the terminal — recommended: installs and launches with no Gatekeeper prompt at all.
$ brew install --cask cpt-nem0/tap/verse
$ curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cpt-nem0/verse/main/install.sh | bash

The direct download is ad-hoc signed, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. The terminal installs skip that entirely.
